SAF Codec Pack 6.21

SAF stands for Stand Alone Filter. It is a lean compilation of codecs and filters designed to enable you to play any kind of media file or source you want to play on your HTPC. SAF Codec Pack adds full support for HD audio and HD video playback (including 10bit decoding), Bitstream TrueHD and DTS MASTER audio using HDMI to an AVR and allows you to watch High Definition videos for FREE. With SAF you are able to: play DVD's, play all HD blueray rips and normal SD media files, watch Live TV, live HDTV and recordings, watch Online / streaming media files, setup audio output for DTS (HD) through SPDIF or plain stereo. You can play almost all video containers, including: avi, mkv, mp4, evo, divx/xvid, mpc, mov, flac, flv, ogg, rm/rmvb, wav (DTS), ac3, it, mod, s3m, etc... with one (bundled) player.

There are two versions of SAF available: A standard version and an unlocked version. The standard version works perfect for most users. The difference between the two versions are: Automatic download function of the correct and best decoders; For Live HDTV channels (MPEG2/h.264) added hardware acceleration decoding support; Full RealMedia support; VP7 video decoding available.

If you do not watch HDTV and RealMedia files, you have no need for the unlocked version. To obtain the unlocked version of SAF, users can send a private message to the SAF developer.
