WavPack DirectShow Filter Decoder 1.0.2.442

WavPack DirectShow Filter Decoder is a collection of DirectShow filters - WavPackDSDecoder.ax & WavPackDSSplitter.ax for playing files compressed in the .wv and .wvc formats. WavPack is a completely open audio compression format providing lossless, high-quality lossy, and a unique hybrid compression mode. In the default lossless mode WavPack acts just like a WinZip compressor for audio files. However, unlike MP3 or WMA encoding which can affect the sound quality, not a single bit of the original information is lost, so there's no chance of degradation. This makes lossless mode ideal for archiving audio material or any other situation where quality is paramount. The compression ratio depends on the source material, but generally is between 30% and 70%.

Installing WavPack DirectShow Filter Decoder:

Manually registering a .AX file is quite simple and can be done in only a few steps.
1. Download WavPack DirectShow Filter Decoder
2. Copy WavPackDSDecoder.ax and WavPackDSSplitter.ax in system32 folder [ C:WINDOWSsystem32 ]
3. Click on Start > Run...
- To install the file, type: regsvr32 WavPackDSDecoder.ax (than WavPackDSSplitter.ax)
- To uninstall the file, use: regsvr32 -u WavPackDSDecoder.ax (than WavPackDSSplitter.ax)

If you are not able to register a .AX file and you end up getting an error message saying that the attempt to register the DLL file failed, you might want to disable UAC (User Account Control) in Windows Vista/7.
