FFDShow Tryouts 2014.04.29

FFDShow is a free, Open Source media encoder and decoder mainly used for fast and high-quality video playback. FFDShow uses less CPU power than the original DiVX codecs, allowing for smoother video playback on new and older machines. FFDShow was designed to be a single codec (or directshow filter) that acts like many video and audio codecs. It automatically adjusts its settings to fit your computer to give you the best view experience possible.

As a DirectShow and VFW codec (Video for Windows codec), FFDShow offers support for a wide range of audio and video formats, such as Xvid, DivX, Xvid, or FFmpeg MPEG-4 and AVC (H.264) with a rich set of postprocessing filters. If you're leary of codec packs, then FFDShow Tryouts would be the second best choice because it has decoding support for the most popular video and audio formats such as Flash Video, H.263, VP6, MPEG Part-2, AVC (H.264), WMV and Theora.

When it comes to audio, FFDShow supports AAC, Dolby AC3, MP3, FLAC, WMA, Vorbis and others. It includes a powerful filter set that can enhance the video quality - with filters for resizing, deinterlacing, and displaying subtitles - as well as audio quality through normalization, down-/upmixing, and resampling. The FFDShow Tryouts project is a fork of the original FFDShow project. It is free software released under the GPL license.
