VirtualDub2 (VirtualDub FilterMod) is a VirtualDub fork wich can open MP4/MKV/MPG besides AVI. As you may know, VirtualDub, as stand-alone, cannot handle MP4, MKV, FLV, MOV, 3GP, WMV. So if you want to open MKV or FLV files in VirtualDub, you need a plugin called Virtualdub FFMpeg Input Plugin or better yet, you can use VirtualDub FilterMod which can handle MP4, MKV, FLV, MOV or any other files beyond AVI format. VirtualDub FilterMod comes with all the features of the original VirtualDub plus others like better filter preview UI, a improved timeline control, an AviSynth / VapourSynth script editor, can open Cineform in avi, mp4, mov, can open avi, mp4, mkv, mxf, mov and many other supported by FFMpeg library, extended API for plugins.

Introducing VirtualDub2 v2.2.0:
The auxsetup utility now supports both win32 and x64 versions. Exe and dll files no longer have "64" prefixes. HiDPI support improved, and system message output fixed in vdub2.exe. Updated avlib-1.vdplugin (0.7.1.220) and scripted.vdplugin (0.2.1.92). Bug fixes and code refactoring included.
