The WebP codec by Google allows applications using WIC to view WebP files. WebP Codec implements the interface defined by the Windows Imaging Component to provide WebP support for Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, and Windows XP SP 3. Google WebP WIC codec for Windows is a codec built with the libwebp library. WebP is a image format that provides lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. On Windows 10, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, this includes the possibility of viewing WebP files in Windows Photo Viewer and their thumbnails in Windows Explorer, and support WebP in other programs that use the Windows Imaging Component. Currently, the WebP codec setup only includes the decoder.
